Important Update: Transition to In-World Info Button Board

Starting today, we are officially transitioning to the in-world info button board, which now contains all the pages and information previously found on our web-based INFO page.

This button board replaces the need to open your web browser to access current information. While the old INFO page will still exist, it will no longer be actively updated and will serve only as an archive placeholder.

What to Expect

• Most buttons will provide a notecard with up-to-date information, including a revision date at the top so you can easily see when it was last updated.
• Other buttons will offer direct links to various DSL-related pages on the web.

The DSL and YouTube Links page has been refreshed with current links to our video streamers.

2024 DSL HQ1 Winter Installation Inside And Outside Done

 

It has been a long year. I started this project mid summer and finally finished with it today! What you will find outside (and inside) of HQ1 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Hugues/102/204/43 is my current display of off road vehicles, hand picked out of many :-) in a winter high desert setting complete with a tumbleweed or two intermittently rezzing and disappearing in front of your eyes. 

Every year as in many years past, I try and present something visually interesting at headquarters. Most of you just come over to pick up the navHUD and leave but this time come and take a look at all the vehicles I have arranged inside and outside in a high desert setting most of which were rewards given out over the past years as rewards.

You can also sit and enjoy some tacos and have a beer (or just a coffee or tea) and take some taco's home with you for a later mealtime :-) You can also rez one of Christie's buses at the bus stop to drive around the sim and see yourself in the background (if you have mirrors turned on) while you are at the stop.

Designing Worlds Video - All About DSL

Hey Everyone!

This was such a great idea for both the Teegle Community and the SL Equestrian Community in general that we felt it would be great to keep it going. With that in mind there are a few things to make note of before we get into the locations and what they have to offer...

The Decommissioning... We Said Goodbye To Our Beloved HQ1

In 2019, it was decided that we needed a world headquarters. We needed a space to be able to give out our weekly navHUD via a file cabinet and have a home to call our own where people could gather to collect our weekly adventure drive which included a GTFO drive once a month. Close ties with the GTFO organization including CinnamonMousse and Syler Avon made this possible. Shortly thereafter, Christie asked me if I would be interested in maintaining the place and I agreed it would be fun and that would take on the responsibility. Thus the DSL headquarters was a established inside the GTFO World Headquarters located on Bruissac on the Jeogeot Gulf adjacent to the Blake Sea (some of the most expensive real estate areas on the grid).

As the years went on, I would create sets of displays in the courtyard depending on our special events and seasons featuring vehicles from our sponsors given out each week to highlight and a also give a sense of belonging. I especially enjoyed creating winter scenes with snow and vehicles related to that with trees and lighting etcetera.

As the story goes, one day Syler decided to make a change. He grew tired of the same old set up of the GTFO World Headquarters and wanted to try something new. This included our space. It turns out that Syler re arranged his land holdings and was able to consolidate land in Bruissac and adjacent Hugues together to form a new GTFO and DSL headquarters. This is where we are at now.

Q: "When will Drivers of SL finally contact me to sponsor?"

A: Never.  If you'd like to sponsor, contact Christi Charron! 

Only Drivers of Second Life sponsors can advertise in this group!

Q: "How much does it cost to sponsor?"

A: Nothing. Sponsors must provide a free vehicle or related reward for 2 weeks, to everyone completing the drive (around 400 avatars).

Q: "What else do I need to do as a sponsor?"

A: Nothing! Just place the reward(s) into a special box given to you by me.

With our previous release being somewhat minor, this one could be considered a major update!

LOT’S of new shiny including some major code merges from Linden Lab bringing us to parity with SLV 6.6.2.

New QA Process and viewer update cadence.

Yes, a new update already! As was mentioned in the previous release post we have moved to a more rapid QA and release cycle. This will mean you will receive updates and fixes far more frequently. Our QA process now revolves largely around our in world Preview Group, of which YOU TOO can be a member! We issue a new build every week to this group, and after the 4th build is sent out, if no blockers are found… that build gets promoted to a Release Candidate. One week after that we aim to issue an official update. Viewer updates can be expected roughly every 6-8 weeks. This is the completion of the first cycle using this strategy and I must say, it has been a surprisingly big success. MANY thanks to our Formal Beta testers and all members in our (open to the public) Preview Group. Please consider joining the group to get the latest shiny all the time!
